The IMI Level 3 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair and Replacement is designed for technicians who need to work live on electric and hybrid vehicle high-voltage systems. This two-day course provides the knowledge and practical skills required to safely diagnose, test, repair, and replace high-voltage components, including work on vehicles that may have damage to their high-energy electrical systems.

Level 3 training is essential for compliance with the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989:
Regulation 16 (Persons to be competent): Only competent persons may work on live electrical systems. Level 3 provides the competence required to work live on high-voltage vehicle systems (typically 60V-1000V DC).
Regulation 14 (Work on or near live conductors): Work on or near live conductors must only be carried out when it is reasonable in all circumstances and suitable precautions are taken. Level 3 covers these precautions and safe working procedures.
Regulation 4 (Systems, work activities and protective equipment): All systems must be constructed and maintained to prevent danger. Level 3 ensures technicians understand how to work safely within HV systems and implement appropriate safety measures.
Employers have a legal duty to ensure anyone working on high-voltage systems holds appropriate qualifications. Level 3 is the industry-recognised standard for this work.
